小谷城
長浜城を後にして、小谷城へ向かう。
河毛駅からの1日わずか5本のバスに間に合う。どうやら、研修中らしくベテランの運転手が同乗。途中ベテランの運転手が話しかけてきて、話していると、若手運転手が右折する地点を通り過ぎる。
麓から大手道を攻略する。昨日の雨のせいで表面だけがぬかるんでいて、やたらとすべる。まったくといっていいほど保存整備がされていないので、ちょっとした登山を超えている感じ。なにより草木が生い茂りすぎていて、道すら分からない状態に。虫もいろいろずいぶんと飛び交っていて、蜂もいたのでなかなか危険な感じ。
「カモシカが生息しています。熊と間違わないでください」
なんて、看板まであった。カモシカが生息しているだけでなく、熊もいるってことなわけで。しかも山城と言えば、マムシもつきもの。ここまで身の危険を感じたのは初めて。
やっとのことで、本丸に到着して、山王丸の大石垣を目指そうと、さらに億へ進んだが、京極丸より先の道がまったく分からない。無理に分け入って遭難してもいられないので、引き返すことに。途中夫婦と出会う。
「この先って何かありますか？」
と聞かれる。城好きにはそれなりにあることはあるんだけど、話した感じでは別に城好きではないようだ。そもそも、山歩きをする格好でもないので、
「城が好きな人以外は、見て楽しいようなものはあまり無いです。木が生い茂っていて、眺望のいい場所もあと1,2箇所くらい。」
と教える。城好きには「何も無い」なんて返事はありえないんだけど、こういう場合はそう答えた方が懸命。
帰りは麓まで降りる気力が無く、番所跡からタクシーを呼ぶことに。タクシーの運ちゃんには、
「よく登りましたねえ」
と感心される。
麓→京極丸→番所跡で、2時間かからなかったんだから、脚力はまだまだある。でも、気力が。。。
