●田中城
吉田城をそうそうに後にして田中城へ向かう。
豊橋まつりのせいで、市電が詰まってしまい1本新幹線を逃す。その代わり、赤福を余裕はあったし、在来線で行くことになって新幹線代は浮いたし、乗り換えの浜松駅でうなぎ弁当は買えたしで、怪我の功名。
藤枝駅からバスでまず市立博物館へ向かう。バスの運運転手に博物館を通るか確認すると「？」な顔をしたので、蓮華寺と言ったら、「通ります」と。知らないもんなんだね。
市立博物館で今日まで開催の「田中城と城下町」をみる。（なんだか、ものすごい聞いたことのある名前）
博物館を見たあとで、田中城と下屋敷へ向かう。円郭式と呼ばれる独特の縄張りで、本丸を中心に同心円状に縄張りが広がっている。今では遺構はほとんど残っていないのだが、道はかつての縄張りの名残を残しているため、旧城域に入ると道がクランク状になっている。そのため、自分の位置感覚がさっぱり分からなくなり、すっかり迷ってしまい、下屋敷に行くまで手間取るは、何箇所か遺構を見落とすわと、消化不良に。まあそれだ理想的な縄張りだということは十分実感できた。
こういう地形に遺構のかつての縄張りの痕跡をとどめる城は十分下調べをすることの大切さを改めて実感。最近、計画するたびに天候不良で順延になっている（だから今回も学割の期限の関係もあって、吉田城と田中城になった）若神子城と獅子吼城が急に不安になってきた。
